We are pleased to announce that Lextox have received official confirmation from UKAS (the United Kingdom Accreditation Service) that our accreditation to the internationally recognised standard ISO 17025 has been achieved and maintained for another year.
What is UKAS accreditation and why is it important?
UKAS is the only national accreditation body which has been recognised by the government to assess, against internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services. This accreditation demonstrates the competency of a laboratory in testing to ensure reliability of the analysis results and delivers confidence in the service of the testing laboratory.
Lextox is accredited to test for a wide range of drugs in hair and was, at the time, the first independent UK owned laboratory to attain ISO 17025 UKAS accreditation for hair alcohol testing.
What did Lextox do to obtain this and what was the outcome?
In order for the accreditation to be maintained, Lextox was subject to an assessment visit by two UKAS assessors. The visit was successful with both assessors commenting very positively, not only about the organisation but also the individual staff, their knowledge and commitment to their roles and business as a whole.
Upon our successful production of evidence to UKAS on their reported findings and their thorough review of this, UKAS confirmed maintenance of the full scope of our accreditation for yet another year.
Lextox works to right-first-time quality assurance procedures to minimise delays and ensure reliability of both our service as a whole and our analysis results.
