Quality

Deputy Quality Manager

Lextox is a UK based forensic toxicology laboratory with a team of experts who have outstanding knowledge and experience of analysing biological samples for our client’s benefit.

Based in the Grade Two listed Maltings building in Cardiff, our forensic toxicology laboratory provides a fast, efficient and reliable drug and alcohol testing service.

We’re currently recruiting for a Deputy Quality Manager to join the team and ensure that our quality management system is maintained and improved. We’re looking to speak with candidates who have a passion for quality, experience of working to accreditation standards and a scientific or engineering background.  

As the Deputy Quality Manager you will be responsible for ensuring that the company understands the importance of quality throughout the business, supporting the Quality Manager and helping to maintain our current accreditation.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement the requirements of the company Quality Management System and ISO 17025 standard
  • Ensure compliance of the company Quality Management System and ISO 17025 requirements
  • Administration of the QMS including document control
  • Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures are correct, reviewed and fit for purpose
  • Undertake internal audits in accordance with the audit schedule to ensure compliance with ISO 17025
  • Undertake periodic reviews of training records to ensure they are correct and accurate
  • Deal with queries relating to quality issues
  • Recommend improvements, seeing them through to implementation and reviewing effectiveness
  • Prepare regular reports of quality metrics
  • Undertake risk assessments, identify potential hazards and determine ways of reducing risks
  • Actively work to improve quality and identify ways to enhance quality through operational and process improvements

Your experience:

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in science
  • 2-5 years’ experience of working in a Quality role
  • Internal auditing and report writing
  • Experience of identifying non-conformances and risks

Desirable

  • Experience of working in an ISO17025 accredited laboratory
  • Ability to problem solve quickly and decisively
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written

Client Support

Lextox is a UK based forensic toxicology laboratory with a team of experts who have outstanding knowledge and experience of analysing biological samples for our client’s benefit.

Based in the Grade Two listed Maltings building in Cardiff, our forensic toxicology laboratory provides a fast, efficient and reliable drug and alcohol testing service.

We are currently seeking enthusiastic and detail orientated candidates for our Client Support Team. As part of the Client Support Team you will be supporting Client Managers on preparing quotations for clients, working closely with our sample collectors to book and confirm collection appointments and dealing with case queries/quotation amendments together with client enquiries via phone and email. We are looking to speak with candidates who can demonstrate their passion for customer service, attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

As a member of the Client Support Team you will have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues in the Client Support Team as well as Client Managers and Sample Collectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive and action incoming customer enquiries and take details needed to prepare client quotations
  • Provide general advice to clients on how we can help with their testing requirements
  • Prepare quotations for clients promptly from information provided
  • Ensure the CRM system is accurate and up to date
  • Liaise with sample collectors to arrange sample collection appointments
  • Actively work towards improving quality and customer service

Collections

Sample Collector (Permanent West Wales)

We are seeking an experienced, professional phlebotomist for a full time position within our sample collections team.

Candidates must be professionally qualified phlebotomists, have recent experience in various venepuncture techniques (vacutainer, butterfly etc) and be able to collect samples in non-clinical settings.

Experience in collecting hair samples and DNA samples would be an advantage, however, in house training will be provided for all aspects of the role involving sample collections.

Candidates must have excellent inter personal skills, be superb communicators both written and verbally. They will have a real focus on service and quality with an eye for detail and accuracy.

The role entails attending pre-booked appointments at various locations so candidates must have a full driving license and be prepared to travel in and around West Wales. A minimum of 2 years’ phlebotomy experience is required.

Ad-Hoc Sample Collectors (Birmingham/Midlands/Scotland)

Would you like to join our dedicated, passionate and hardworking Ad Hoc phlebotomy team at Lextox?

Lextox is a UK based forensic toxicology laboratory with a team of experts who have considerable knowledge and experience of analysing biological samples. By analysing hair samples, we can provide an historic profile of drug use over a period of months, and help determine chronic excessive alcohol consumption, all within 5 working days of receiving the sample into our UK laboratory. Based in Cardiff, our forensic toxicology laboratory provides a fast, efficient and reliable drug and alcohol testing service.

Our mission is to provide solicitors and local authorities involved in family law with the information that is needed to help make informed decisions.

Requirements:

We are seeking experienced, professional phlebotomists for ad hoc casual positions within our sample collections team within Birmingham/the Midlands and Scotland. These are casual positions with the possibility of successful candidates becoming permanent.

Ideally, candidates must be professionally qualified phlebotomists, have recent experience in various venepuncture techniques (vacutainer, butterfly etc) and be able to collect samples in non-clinical settings. Experience in collecting hair samples and DNA samples would be an advantage, full training will be provided for all aspects of the role involving sample collections.

Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills, be superb communicators both written and verbally. They will have a real focus on service and quality with an eye for detail and accuracy.

The role entails attending pre-booked assignments at various locations therefore, candidates must have a full driving license and be prepared to travel in, and around specific territories based on their location within the UK.  Assignments will generally be within a 2-hour radius of a collector’s home address by car. Access to your own vehicle is essential, successful applicants will be paid on a per collection basis only, appropriate travel expenses will be paid and can include parking fees, sample postage. Collections assignments will generally be at either a solicitor’s office, local authority office or donor’s home; PPE will be provided as appropriate.

Reporting Team Administrator

We are currently seeking a Reporting Team Administrator to join our Reporting Team.

As part of the Reporting Team you will be supporting our Reporting Scientists with typing our Expert Reports, updating test results and updating the CRM and laboratory database.

As the role is dealing with technical and confidential information we are looking to speak with candidates who have experience dealing with complex information with the ability to convey this clearly.

Responsibilities:

  • Typing Expert Reports and covering letters using MS Word, for use in legal cases by solicitors, courts and local authorities
  • Data entry into CRM and the laboratory database including
  • Filing test results with corresponding sample packs
  • Archiving tested sample packs and update CRM
  • Help ensure the reporting team is well organised and meets its reporting deadlines
  • Ensure that Lextox Standard Operating Procedures are followed at all times and that corresponding paperwork is neatly completed to the standard required
  • Ensure that training and competency records are kept up to date in a timely manner
  • Respect the confidentiality of the information obtained in the course of analysing samples within the laboratory
  • Receiving and recording samples that arrive at the laboratory

Reporting Scientist

Lextox is a UK based forensic toxicology laboratory with a team of experts who have industry leading knowledge and experience of analysing biological samples for our client’s benefit.

Based in the Grade Two listed Maltings building in Cardiff, our forensic toxicology laboratory provides a fast, efficient and reliable drug and alcohol testing service.

We are currently looking to appoint an experienced Reporting Scientist, who will be responsible for creating expert reports and certificates of analysis for our clients throughout the UK.

The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail and an ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills. You will also have the ability to work well under pressure to strict deadlines.

As a Reporting Scientist for Lextox you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring that accurate Expert Reports are prepared and completed to agreed standards and timescales and issue Certificates of Analysis where necessary.
  • Ensure that the reporting of results is undertaken in accordance with SOP’s and the requirements of ISO17025
  • Actively working towards improving quality and customer service, at all times.
  • Making presentations of results and interpretations of findings to Courts of Law, as required.
  • Keeping up to date with advances in hair drug and alcohol testing field.

Laboratory

Lab Analyst

Lextox is a UK based forensic toxicology laboratory with a team of experts who have outstanding knowledge and experience of analysing biological samples for our client’s benefit.

Based in the Grade Two listed Maltings building in Cardiff, our forensic toxicology laboratory provides a fast, efficient and reliable drug and alcohol testing service.

We’re looking to speak with candidates who have a passion for process, a keen eye for detail and a focus on accuracy.

The role entails completing general laboratory duties without supervision, and to the required standard, following SOP and working to ISO17025 guidelines. You will also be responsible for sectioning all types of hair samples arriving at the laboratory and preparing and extracting sample batches ready for analysis.

Responsibilities: 

  • Ensuring Lab glassware is clean.
  • Responsible for the daily min/max temperature measurement of the fridges and freezers, and ensuring that the balances are checked on a daily basis according to Lextox SOPs and corresponding forms are completed.
  • Responsible for the weekly pipette calibration checks and monthly min/max pipette calibration check according to Lextox SOPs and corresponding forms are completed.
  • Responsible for keeping the sample status folder up to date.
  • Sectioning hair samples as they arrive at the direction of Laboratory Management, following Lextox SOPs and completing appropriate laboratory forms.
  • To prepare sample batches appropriate to the level of competence achieved at the direction of Laboratory Management, following Lextox SOPs and completing appropriate laboratory forms.
