Laboratory

Laboratory Analyst

Lextox is a UK based forensic toxicology laboratory with a team of experts who have outstanding knowledge and experience of analysing biological samples for our client’s benefit.

Based in the Grade Two listed Maltings building in Cardiff, our forensic toxicology laboratory provides a fast, efficient and reliable drug and alcohol testing service.

We have a vacancy for a Laboratory Analyst to join our Laboratory team in Cardiff, on a full time and permanent basis. Applicants are expected to have ISO17025 knowledge and hold previous laboratory experience.

Responsibilities: 

  • Sectioning hair samples as they arrive at the direction of Laboratory Management, following Lextox SOPs and completing appropriate laboratory forms
  • Ensure that Lextox Standard Operating Procedures are followed at all times and that corresponding paperwork is neatly completed to the standard required
  • Responsible for keeping the sample status folder up to date
  • Respect the confidentiality of the information obtained in the course of analysing samples within the laboratory, and refrain from disclosing such information without written consent, except where disclosure is required by law or by a court order
  • Communicate efficiently, courteously and with clarity at all times, whether face to face, telephone or electronic methods referring enquiries to senior staff where appropriate

Essential:

  • Qualified at a Degree level – Biomedical Sciences or a relevant Science degree
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • A strong focus on service and quality with an eye for detail and accuracy
  • Laboratory experience

Research and Development Analyst

Lextox is a UK based forensic toxicology laboratory with a team of experts who have outstanding knowledge and experience of analysing biological samples for our client’s benefit.

Based in the Grade Two listed Maltings building in Cardiff, our forensic toxicology laboratory provides a fast, efficient and reliable drug and alcohol testing service.

We have a vacancy for a self-motivated Research and Development Analyst to join our Laboratory team in Cardiff, on a full time and permanent basis. Applicants would need to have experience in laboratory method development, improvement and advancement of existing techniques and in-depth practical instrument knowledge.

Responsibilities: 

  • Ability to follow detailed project plans and deliver within the time frame
  • Instrument maintenance
  • Identifying suitable alternative methods and techniques
  • Support with team training and competence assessments
  • Ability to resolve complex technical issues
  • Develop applications that are fit for purpose

Essential:

  • Practical hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation
  • Degree qualified in a scientific discipline
  • Working knowledge of ISO17025
  • Report writing skills
  • Good time management

Collections

Ad-Hoc Collection Technician / Phlebotomist (Birmingham)

Would you like to join our dedicated, passionate and hardworking Ad Hoc phlebotomy team at Lextox?

Lextox is a UK based forensic toxicology laboratory with a team of experts who have outstanding knowledge and experience of analysing biological samples for our client’s benefit.

We have a vacancy for a Collections Technician / Phlebotomist to join our Sample Collections team in Birmingham South, on an AD HOC basis. Candidates must be professionally qualified Phlebotomists, have recent experience in various venepuncture techniques (vacutainer, butterfly etc) and be able to collect samples in non-clinical settings.

Requirements:

  • Attending pre booked appointments at various locations in and around the South Birmingham area
  • Provide a professional hair, blood and DNA sample collection service
  • Maintain and develop excellent relationships with clients, donors as the public face of Lextox
  • Implement the requirements of the company Quality Management System and help maintain ISO 17025 accreditation
  • Ensure that all collections are undertaken in a safe, healthy and low risk environment and manner
  • Provide statements of truth at point of collection

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent interpersonal and language skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence and must have own access to a vehicle
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Phlebotomy, post qualification

Desirable

  • Experience in working within the NHS
  • Experience in collecting hair and DNA samples (in-house training is provided for all aspects of the role)
  • NHS / Blood Service / GP surgery experience

Assignments will generally be within a 2-hour radius of a collector’s home address by car. Access to your own vehicle is essential. Successful applicants will be paid on a per collection basis only, plus appropriate travel expenses will be paid, including fuel, parking fees and sample postage. Collections assignments will generally be at either a solicitor’s office, local authority office or donor’s home; appropriate PPE will be provided. A DBS check will be an essential requirement for this role.

From 1st April 2022 we require all our staff who may have contact with patients either through their job or because they enter patient areas to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, unless exempt, in accordance with recent legislation. All offers of employment will be subject to proof of vaccination status.

Based in the Grade Two listed Maltings building in Cardiff, our forensic toxicology laboratory provides a fast, efficient and reliable drug and alcohol testing service.

We are currently seeking a Client Manager to join our existing Sales team in Cardiff. You will be responsible for meeting clients’ requirements and proactively managing client relationships to enable company growth.

Responsibilities:

  • To contribute and grow sales in a designated territory vs target to support wider Sales team delivery and company growth
  • To build and maintain client relationships
  • To work collaboratively with all operational departments
  • To actively work towards improving quality and client experience at all times

Based in the Grade Two listed Maltings building in Cardiff, our forensic toxicology laboratory provides a fast, efficient and reliable drug and alcohol testing service.

We have a vacancy for a committed, enthusiastic and motivated Sales Administrator to join our busy Sales team in Cardiff, on a full time and permanent basis. Full training will be carried out for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and accurate administrative support to the sales team
  • Prepare hair/blood/DNA sample collection kits and action sample collector stock requests
  • Receive incoming customer enquiries
  • Ensure CRM workflow is accurate and up to date
  • Inform customers of sample receipt
  • Maintain sufficient stock components and PPE

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Able to work as part of a team and use own initiative
  • Proven working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook
